Please help me!
My hen's eggs just hatched, yet she was attacking one of the babies whenever she saw it. I of course grabbed the little baby away. She is a silkie bantam, but we put some fertilized sultan eggs under her along with her own pure silkie eggs.
As I held the baby, his head started to drop to the point where his beak was resting on the ground, his eyes closed. I had another sultan that was store bought and was sleepy like this, and sadly it died. But this one is very alert when his eyes are not drooping. He pecks and everything, but it seems like this tires him out and he just falls asleep! What should I do? I have given him some water...
Please help

Is there any way that you can put the Silkie Bantam in the dark? If it is dark you can normally put the chick back with her - put the chick under her and she should hopefully accept it as her own..... my Silkie Bantams have no problem in adopting any other chicks that hatch even up to 5-6 days after their own hatch - it would be best for the chick to be with a mentor that can nurture them.

I wish you luck!

Suzie
