Help me something attacked my chickens - kill her or not?

i think it was a dog that killed her, there was slobber on the dead chicken

there were three, one is really hurt, one is dead, and the other is fine.



should i kill the injured one?

Can she walk? If so, no, don't kill her. Clean the wound well with diluted iodine and cover it with neosporin. I would bring her inside so that she doesn't take dirt baths and get it more infected. You may need to get penicillin for her if it gets infected. Just keep it clean and covered with neosporin until it is well scabbed and clearly not infected.

She may be in shock. Give her some sugar water and see if it helps her.

i'm going to wait for now. i don't have any iodine but i have hydrogen peroxide (h2o2)

I've seen them with a lot worse wounds recover - I think the sugar water is a great idea too. Hope she makes it through !!

You can use hydrogen peroxide, but dilute it to 50%. Otherwise, it does too much damage to the healthy tissue. Diluted H2O2 won't do much damage , so you'll be ok. It is more important to get the wound clean.

Sugar water helps the bird recover quicker from being in shock (so I have heard). It is the boost in energy (effects of sugar on the brain) that help supposedly.
