This is my first time using an incubator. So I have six bantam eggs in a styrofoam hova-bator. I added a fan, so it is not still air. I ran the incubation at 99-100 degrees. I'm trying to hatch in an egg carton. When I candled on Wednesday before going into lockdown, two had internally pipped. Those two hatched yesterday (day 20). Now I have two adorable chicks, and four eggs that don't look like they're doing anything (no external pips). I'm trying my best not to open the bator, put the chicks in a brooder and candle to see what is up with the other eggs.

My plan is to look into things tomorrow afternoon. Is this a good idea? Help me stay strong :)

I'd love to help, but alas, I'm just a meddler myself...lol Known for my practice of removing chicks to the brooder as they hatch, flipping pippers back over, assisting IF needed and candling when I get antsy. But I will wish you good luck and congrats on the two that are out!

Have you had any problems with candling during lock down? Feeling resolve weakening...

No, but I keep my hatch humidity up to 75% for hatch so the membranes don't dry when I do open my bator. My last hatch I had 100% rate - at the end I had three eggs that decided to wait as long as they could...I must have candled them 3 or 4 times in 24 hours before they decided to externally pip...lol I'm not advising anyone should be as meddling as me, but if you have no pips and adequate humidity, there is no reason not to move the chicks to the brooder and give the eggs a candle. I don't usually candle during lockdown unless I have eggs that haven't done anything, and the majority are out or pipped. Usually just by picking them up you can feel movement if they are viable, not always but I can usually feel a flutter.

Well, I meddled. Took out the two chicks and checked the eggs. One might be ok, but the other 3 look dead. I'll give them another day or two, but not expecting anything at this point.

Sorry to hear that.
