Help me understand my dog?

I agree, this sounds like a game. I would feed him in a crate in a room by himself; give him ten minutes. Two choices, "Eat it or don't." Once or at most twice a day. Might have a vet check his teeth to make sure nothing is causing him pain. A couple of reasons to feed on schedule: one, dogs that browse all day long are typically a lot harder to housetrain, because when something goes in one end, something needs to come out the other end. And two, canids in the wild are not browsers like cattle, they are gorgers. They kill something and eat it all up, then they fast until they make another kill, sometimes days later. Dogs can survive on one meal a day, it's how their digestive system is designed. Good luck! And yes, your dogs are adorable.

He eats simply nourish, because it doesn't have corn gluten, Wich seems to be what mainly sets him off. Poor 4 month old puppy who was so sad he couldn't hold it in the car😂😂😂 that was a fun one lol. My other dog, well she could Probobly eat about anything and walk away, she is excited when we leave, and much quieter.
If it’s the corn, there’s lots of dog foods now without corn or soy or that stuff. :) but if he does well on it no sense changing it I guess but there are a lot of options now. And that’s hilarious! Lol

Yes, poodles type breeds have quirks to them. They have a tendency to have anxiety. Try as you might to cauldle the anxiety from him, the worse it becomes.
I'm going to guess, you probably don't feed drydog food only..right?
Well, that's one of the problems.
Because of this, little/small dogs must have their teeth cleaned. Otherwise, the bacteria can cause heart and kidney issues.
Put the dry dog food in a bowl on top of a container that he can reach comfortably.
If he doesn't eat after 30 min. PICK the bowl up until next time to eat.
Do this everyday until he breaks down and eats.
If he is stubborn, do it as long as it takes. Do not give in. If it takes one or two weeks, Do not give in. He will not starve. He will beg and cry but, Do not give in.
Show him YOU are the boss.
Otherwise, his bad habits will continue and exacerbate as he gets older.
He has trained you, now it's time you train him!
Good Luck!
I had a friend who had a Doberman and a toy poodle named Moose. I was over at her place once when she fed the dogs. She put two dishes down and Moose gobbled up her food just like the big one did. I had never seen a little dog eat like that. Turned out Moose had once been a slow and picky eater. My friend started putting down two bowls of food, one for Moose and one for the Dobie. It didn't take Moose long to learn that if she didn't get down to business and eat, the Dobie would get her food and she would lose out.

That’s hilarious! And clearly effective 😂🤣

My dogs name is Buddy. He is a 3 year old cockapoo poodle mix (75% poodle, 25% cockerspainel) he has a lot if weird habits, we got him as an 8 week old pup. The one I'm asking about is his eating problems. When I put down the plate (yes plate, he won't eat out of a bowl, only the floor, or a plate.) he whimpers at it, no matter how close you put it to him, until you move it closer. Then back up, if that doesn't work, you have to move it to another plate, and then usually he eats. Any idea why he does this? The other dog, Millie (1 year old cockapoo) never does this. She is more dominate than him, and does bully him from time to time. She is the Tri-colored one, Bud is white.View attachment 2306010View attachment 2306011

Every time you move the plate closer or exchange the plate just because he whimpers, you are enforcing that behavior. Just set the food down and walk away. He will most likely eat it. If he doesn't eat it after 30 minutes, just take the food away and don't give him anything else until the next feeding time. I know this seems harsh, but that's the only way you will get the behavior to stop. If he's hungry, he'll eat, no matter what plate the food is on.

I feel fed dry food to lol.

I think you're saying you free-feed dry food (autocorrect or something really messed up that sentence.)

When I put down the plate (yes plate, he won't eat out of a bowl, only the floor, or a plate.) he whimpers at it, no matter how close you put it to him, until you move it closer. Then back up, if that doesn't work, you have to move it to another plate, and then usually he eats.

So I'm a bit unsure here: does he have dry food always available, or does he get his food at regular mealtimes?

Or constant access to dry food but something better at specific times?
