I have a chicken that seems to be laying while on the roost. Her egg is sitting in the bedding and it has a dull color to it.What is making the egg have a dull chalky look.

. I was thinking the manure was creating the look?????

They call those white Banded Eggs.... I get them periodically also, usually find them in the litter under the roosts, so assume something delayed the laying of the first egg that day.

White Banded Eggs
These eggs are the result of two eggs
coming in contact with each other in
the shell gland pouch. At this point,
normal calcification is interrupted and
the first egg retained in the pouch will
have an extra layer of calcium - seen
as the white band marking.
Causes:
•Stress
•Changes in Lighting.
•Disease

Cool, but do you guys/ gals have an explanation for this egg?

It is realy small

I had a few small eggs like that and when I cracked them, they had yolk fragments instead of a whole yoke. Maybe there was some yolk left over after your previous egg weirdness and that resulted in a mini egg?
