Help-Metronidazole water dose?

I prefer albendazole (Valbazen) for worming, but fenbendazole (SafeGuard)is fine. The horse paste and liquid got wormer are equal, so 1/4 ml per pound of either contains the same. It can be given once and repeated in 10 days for cecal worms. I may have given the wrong dosage earlier. It is found at most feed stores especially TSC. Valbazen is usually available at Rural King and Southern States Co-op, but I have never seen it at TSC. It is available online, and more expensive, but it treats way more birds and lasts for a couple of years. There is a 14 day egg and meat withdrawal that is commonly used with both drugs.

Ty for the egg and meat withdrawal time.

I'm not familiar with this class of drugs.

I thought 'imidazole' was referring to drugs in the metronidazole class- which are anti-parasitics, and snti- bscteruakss working against anaerobic bacteria.
Metronidazole is a an antibiotic that treats parasites and bacterial infections.... but as far as I know if doesn't rid worms.

So you need the Metro to get rid of the blackhead and the wormer to get rid of the worms that carry the blackhead.

Did you send your bird to a state lab or a local vet?
A local vet should be able to tell you what to use on your bird.
No local vet would do a necropsy and once I realized that I had about 50% losses over 2 years which amounts to about 8 birds, I realized that it was cost effective to take my bird to the only place that would do this- Michigan State University. The vet who did the work had the answer in about 3 minutes and I wanted to kick myself. Duh.
They have a separate vet who does these diagnoses. I prob could email and ask more questions. I talked to him on the phone, however he told me there was no effective treatment. Later, I found out more info.
