Ok, I don't know what happened to my first post so I'm trying again but more to the point:
Mojo is a year and a half or so, giant cochin, I adopted him after 2 other roos attacked him.
he spent almost 3 months recovering in the house . It was determined that his eye had been plucked out. vet recommended sewing his lid shut when the infection in his face leared but by then covid was in full swing and that couldn't happen.help
Mojo went out to the coop to be with my 6 mostly retired ladies. Lives large, healthy and happy.
After Christmas I noticed he was not crowing at 4:30 am, his favorite hen filled in for him that day.
brought him in because he is limp like a noodle, his face and comb were as dark as a Ayam Cemani. It is still purple. To be clear I do not think it is frost bite, I brought him in between storms before the super low temps hit.
He eats a little, drinks a little (electrolytes) but doesn't seem to be coming out of whatever this is. Poops are varied but regular depending on the menu. He looks at the ladies from the sliding glass door but has no response to them wanting to know why he is inside.
I love this dude, such a fighter. If you have experienced something like this before please help.

Thanks! I'll study up, I was really hoping it was due to atmospheric changes on his exposed eye membrane. Then I thought he survived a heart attack, or stroke. I hadn't thought of the M word. :(

Photos would be helpful.

Marek's isn't the only avian virus. This could be lymphoid leucosis. It causes similar symptoms. Tumors on organs can cause system shutdown and you see a dark comb, difficulty breathing, and paralysis.

Only a necropsy after death can diagnose this.
