HELP! Momma duck was slaughtered!

A neighbor's dog attacked some of my sister's show rabbits in her rabbit barn years ago. The neighbor was stubborn, so she filed suit in civil court - and won. The neighbor was quite surprised at the price given for "rabbits".

(She finally had to shoot the dog when he came back.)

Wanna' borrow my shotgun?? (I don't know if I could shoot a dog, either.) What a traumatizing event! I am so sorry.

The air cell is in every egg. If you candle and see any veining they have started forming already and all hope is lost . I cant imagine a duck setting on only 3eggs though. I think you're safe. And yes, shoot those dogs if they come back. Its sad to do so because its the iresponsible owners' fault, but you can't let this happen again.

I usually don't agree with shooting them but in this case the owners of the dogs must not care enough to make sure they stay home. I hope you dont see them again but be careful if you do if they can do that to ducks biting people isnt that big of a stretch. Good luck with your duck eggs!

X2 so sorry about your ducks, now i would be very concerned living close to dogs that would go to such great lengths to kill makes ya wonder what they might do to another animal or even a human. I shutter just thinking about it.

Awwww.. I'm so sorry to hear this! How horrible!! My thought would be that she was just collecting eggs and hadn't started fully setting yet. They might still be fertile even if they aren't growing veins yet. Most birds will collect several eggs before they start sitting, so you might still be able to hatch their children if you are able to get an incubator.
