I hung an apple by a string so the chickens would have a treat to eat, I never thought they would eat the string, I didn't see anyone do it, so I'm not positive, but it's a really secure enclosure so I'm sure no one else did. It's been 2 days, no sign of a string in any ones poop...I'm just so worried that it might get stuck inside someone...It was a nylon string around 16" long...Any ideas?

I think if it has been bunched up in a crop causing impaction you would have noticed it by now. Chances are, with a bit of extra grit that it will just pass through the system.

I suppose it's possible that it causes an obstruction lower down too, but if all the chooks are behaving normally and pooping, you should be okay.

You should check the crop for it... you would feel it... check them all.. and when you find out who ate it you can push it through the neck to the mouth and get it out.... I tried it once and it worked... but you have to be very careful. ...

Everybody looks normal, is acting normal, eating and drinking normal, I can only catch a couple of them, there real skidish. Thanks for your help, if anything starts to look funny, I will have to catch the Hen and feel her crop...
