HELP MY BABIES!

I thought perhaps the OP was talking about pelleted wood bedding rather than pelleted food.
So sorry your chick died but we need more information to be able to help you. You are clearly able to post photos since you already posted one, but can you click full image rather than thumbnail, so that it blows up when we click on it and we can then see some detail. Seeing a photo of your coop/brooder would also help us to know what might be going wrong. It may be too much heat or coccidiosis or pasty butt or a respiratory infection or any number of other things. What do you feed them.... brand and name of product would help. If you are feeding them anything other than a crumble or soaked/smashed pellet, they will need grit, so that could be the issue. How many other chicks do you have left?
:goodpost:
Coccida and pasty butt are exactly why i asked about their poop. Im glad you mentioned it... :)

Do you have a thermometer in the brooder to monitor the temperature. I would be concerned that they may be over heating too. I would also place the water in the furthest corner from the heat source so that it is in the coolest part of the brooder. Coccidia will breed more rapidly in warm water and also if chicks are too warm and only have warm water to drink, that will not help them. Angling the heat source into a corner so that the rest of the brooder is unheated would be better. They do not need constant heat, just a warm place to return to when they need it. If you think about a broody hen raising chicks, the chicks run around outside in all weathers and temperatures and just snuggle under the broody when they need a warm up..... that is all chicks need.... a warm spot to sleep and recharge their batteries. Keeping the food and water in the cooler part of the brooder is healthier for them. I am pleased to see that your brooder is not a plastic tub. Your set up is nice if you just make a few adjustments like I suggested above, although a heating plate or pad would be more natural and economical to run.... that 250Watt bulb must be eating electric and heating the whole room when you really just want a small 10inch diameter area heating!

yes well at first we used an averge lightbulb. They would always huddle and hide under the bulb. Feed recomeended this! That span with the averge bulb was when they died. But now they all hang out and run. The light is angled on one area for colder nights otherwise they all run around and play. Will b 2 weeks this Tueday!
