Today I think she's doing the same as yesterday, she's steady.

How do u give them medicine, I tried to give it to her like one of my other ducks but she wouldn't swallow, I can't get it to the back of her throat past the windpipe, can somebody post a pic or explain how they give there ducks medicine

Is it pill or liquid? i use bread for both, they love bread so it's a good medium for giving meds.

It's liquid, and mine don't like bread, they don't like the texture

Really, well mine rarely get it but when they do you'd think it was someones birthday. so it's easy to give meds using it. what does she like to eat/ maybe you can make up a small amount of something and slip the meds in it. Or go by casportpony's rec on how to give meds I have only done it with my chickens putting the syringe on the right side down the throat a way and pushing the plunger it worked great with my chickens when worming.Takes 2 though my dh holds and I do the syringe.

Yeah the mouth didn't open the same with ducks liek chickens, I should have realized that before I even tried it, for ducks youcant even get on the back of the throat, she's been craving water like super badly so maybe if I take away her water for a little while she could get it through that, she's been drinking every drop lately.

Maybe mix it with a small amount of water like a cup and just give that to her if she is drinking alot she'd probably drink that pretty fast. I didn't think about the mouth not opening as wide I've never had to give meds in the mouth before.

Take her back to the vet and have them show you how to do it. I give it to mine exactly the same way I do with peafowl and chickens.

Please note that I was the one holding the bird and taking the pictures, please use both hands!
  • Hold bird - I like to sit with my thighs parallel to the ground, feet firmly on ground and the bird in my lap. I hold it gently, but firmly and grab the head.

  • Open mouth and wait for bird to relax.

  • Insert syringe - I like to insert from left to right, across the tongue, behind the trachea, into the oesophagus. Again, wait for the bird to relax.

  • Give medication

The hole at the back of the tongue is the trachea - Nothing should ever go in there!

Or get something like this:
