Hi everyone, im having such a horrible week! Rarely do my birds get super sick and die, usually i know what to give my birds and they recover, but this past week ive had a good 30 birds die on me! Just within the past 24 hours i had 9 birds die! I dont know whats killing them. The birds that are dead have very little blood in them, lots of water in their crop. Yellow watery diahreah. Some have a little bit of yellow mucus in their beak, but i dont see any cankers. I see they throwing up. They are weak and cant really walk, their feathers are ruffled up they just stand in one spot or lay down and dont move. Its been really wet and rainy here and the loft got pretty wet from the big storms. Right now im building a temporary loft for my healthy looking birds so they wont be in the old loft anymore?
What could this be? Could it be cause of the wet loft? Maybe mold is growing? All my young birds and babies are dying, some of my older birds to.

Oh my! That is terrible and sad. I know that you are experienced and knowledgeable with pigeons, more so than I am... but I will root around online to see if anything pops out that might relate.
... This has been my go to for info on pigeon diseases...
http://www.melbournebirdvet.com

Unfortunately I see the most useful info on diseases and treatment now requires a login and password. :( I'm going to see if I may be granted permission, :fl even if I have to get a vet friend to apply for me.;)

Anyway, I wish you the best in figuring it out!

That is devastating news hope you can get things under control fast. "FEED & WATER" are the two things I would scrutinize right off the bat. I would also add apple cider vinegar to the water of the remaining birds.

This isn't good. I'd would think that if mould was prevalent aspergillus could cause high mortality but not so quick. Cocci could also be a cause but again not so quick. Salmonella, again yes but so quick? Idk. All I could recommend is moving them to the temporary loft, make sure it is clean, dry and disinfected and fresh food and water acv will be good but a course of antibiotics will probably be beneficial. Don't give acv at the same time. If you have a vet local that would be my next call to distinguish exactly what is going on. I hope this sorts out quickly for you. :hugs

Ive never heard of asperguillus, ill have to read up on it.
I was thinking maybe salmonella, but i dont know how they wouldve gotten it in the first place if no other animals or rodents have ever entered the loft. And the death rate is too quick, this morning i had 3 more die.:barnie:he:hit

I thought they couldve had cocci, because when it rains thats what some would get, so i gave them corid but it didnt work, thats when i realized it wasnt cocci. Plus the poop is different from when they do get cocci.
