Help my chick is chirping and kicking it’s legs but can’t stand

Thank you so much for that information. It is so scary. I was so worried she’d never walked so I’m delighted to see her up and about today. She’s still a little shakey on her feet but she’s able to move about by herself now. The umbilical chord is still dried to her belly and hanging a bit. Would she be ok to go into the brooder with others while she still has it attached or would they peck at it? She’s also still not completely fluffed up and its about 30hrs since hatching. Does she need to be fully fluffed before going into the brooder?

They can stay in the incubator for about 2 days. But when half fluffy, and with umbilical cord attached, I put them in the broader.. i have never waited 2 days.. Usually just one day. When i can see them walking wobbly, I put them in the broader... Glad she is doing better!!

Got her into the brooder but the other two kept pecking at her and she was very nervous so I have divided the brooder until she’s a bit stronger and can take them on. She’s sleeping a lot and making tiny squeaking noises when she jumps awake every few minutes. She seems very skittish. Shes half fluffy and some of her feathers are matted together on her back. Gave her some water today with diorlyte in it (human electrolyte powder) got some vitamin B complex and selenium and brewers yeast. Hoping these will help perk her up a bit.

Give her a stuffed animal or somthing fluffy.. She can get stressed if she feels alone. And will chirp very loud and seem uncomfor1

Thanks will try find something. How long would you wait to put her back in with the others? I’m worried they will peck her again and hurt her. She is a smaller and still a little unsteady on her legs. She has been one and a half days on her own on her side of the brooder.

I wouldnt wait long at all.. Maybe just a day. The longer she is apart from them, the worse it will be to put them together. As long as they are not causing her injury, she can be with them.. She has to learn to stand up for her self and fit in. Some pecking is going to happen, but as long as there is no blood, your good

Thanks! I put her in the brooder and she started pecking at them so they have left her alone. She seems to be holding her own. I’m delighted

Did your chick survive? I have a chick who got stuck while hatching. It’s loud and kicking but can’t stand. I think it can’t feel it’s left foot. I’m trying what you suggested but I’m wondering if I should euthanize.

I'm sorry I never saw this message until now years later. a very late update She survived and did amazing in the end! She is living her best life on my friends farm now. Laying eggs and running around
