I’m trying to work more and maybe I can get enough money to take her to the vet if it seems like I need too.An ingrown feather follicle will be obvious as a "u" shaped object emerging out of the lump. It could be a tumor or it might be an inflamed air sac.
There is an air sac located in the area of the lump on your bird. The condition is called airsacculitis. To determine if the lump is an air sac, sterilize a needle and insert it at the base of the lump. You will hear air escape if it's an air sac.
This is not a cure, however, just a diagnostic procedure. To treat, an antibiotic may be necessary, and it may need to be administered by misting so the bird breathes it in. It can also be surgically treated, but a vet is very much recommended to diagnose and treat this.
