Something found a literal loop hole in the coop security last night and did a number on our chickens. We lost one, but the remaining 4 appeared to have fought valiantly and survived.
One chicken with no visible injuries, just shaken.
One with torn away feathers on one side under her wing.
One with a broken wing.
One is seemingly unharmed, but her breathing is labored and shallow. She is very listless and foaming at the beak.
I triaged the visible injuries as best I could - flushing with hydrogen peroxide, coating with neosporin, isolating them in dog crates in the garage.
I bound up the broken wing so it did not drag the ground.
I have given them food and water.
What else can I do? I am very concerned about the foamy and belabored breathing chicken. They have all made it 24 hours at this point. I will continue to clean the visible wounds - all advice welcome.
Many thanks,
Juli
