Help my dog attacked my Polish rooster, and he's alive

No peroxide on that wound. Peroxide can further damage the raw flesh. If you have access to iodine, water it down to a weak looking tea strength and you can dab or drizzle that on. You want it weak - at full strength it can also damage raw tissue. You can get iodine at any pharmacy (Walgreens, Rite Aid) or at most feed stores - or neighbors with horses might have some...

Is the wound a degloving type injury, meaning the skin is sheared off - pulled of or rolled either upward or downward? It almost looks like it from the photos.

Yes skin is removed and off or rolled back in some places.

too late I put on peroxide, do I wash it off.

i think its best I leave him alone
he's had enoughf or the day dont you think?

or should I take it off?
how often do I water him.

I'm using a seringe and dropping in his mouth but making sure he drinks it.

he's only taking about 2 drops maybe 3 x's then he stops and his head just drops to down like that was all the energy he had.

whats the stuff coming out his mouth. ???

Ok i have a picture of my boy , hope it comes out , i'm new at this but i've uploaded it to my webshots album.

if it doesnt show up maybe you can look at the album in webshots

UPDate: He's resting and breathing really hard and very still. wounds seem to be drying up and stuff is coming out is mouth.
not drinking much but a few drops.

Don't wash the peroxide off, I agree about just leaving him be.

Water - he needs fluids to combat shock. But if he can't swallow, it's not good at all if it's going into his lungs. No idea what the slimy stuff coming up is.

If he survives, he may need the skin that is rolled back trimmed off by the vet. If the blood supply to skin is cut off, the skin can die and become a source of infection rather quickly. It's very common with degloving injuries or injuries that leave a flap (a flap avulsion).

His pictures are beautiful.

You are a very brave and loving person. I am sure you are a comfort to him. You and your rooster are in my prayers. I've seen slimy stuff come out of my young pullet's mouth before, but I wouldn't worry to much about that right now. Just keep him warm and quiet. Sweet talk him. He's a sweet and beautiful rooster. If he makes it through the night, Lord willing, you can take him to the vet when they open in the morning. He will need antibiotics to fight infection for a week or more. Don't fret over the hydrogen peroxide. When my roo suffered a peck wound on his neck, my vet was happy I used the hydrogen peroxide instead of soap and water. He wanted me to use a sterile syringe and flush the area with warm water rather forcefully twice a day, dribble a capful of diluted hydrogen peroxide on the area, then gently apply antibiotic ointment there. He gave me seven shots to give my bird, one each day for seven days. It worked, but I so feared I would lose him at first. We who raise and love chickens will suffer loss from time to time. So many on this forum are losing many of their new chicks right this minute. S & M has his favorite hen attacked and her crop ripped open on both sides. So much tragedy today on the forum, but so much love and encouragement, too. Don't lose hope unless and until there is no more. Folks are praying for you and your rooster including me. God bless.

sorry I did not reply earlier (big time difference between USA and The Netherlands)
I did indeed miss that pic on page one... I see now what you are speaking of
you will need to keep that wound moist...
Again he needs to be kept warm, but I do not believe that keeping a heating lamp on him all nite is going to be good for the shock...needs to be in a quiet dark place especially at night.
I am unsure bout the mucous you describe coming out of his beak...it could possibly be a sign of an internal injury (puncture perhaps>did you check for this, it is easy to miss)
keeping him hydrating is paramount...this is what most often kills them first. just keeping dropping some water with electrolytes alongside his beak...
if you do not have the triple antibiotic creme (this will also keep it moist) then after you flush with saline , put honey on it ... smear it all over...needs protection and this will work tho it will be messy.

i am so sorry that this happened to your roo.

two things:
he needs painkiller
he needs antibiotic

both of these will mean that you need to take a trip to the vet.

metacam is a very good pain med for birds. do you have any on hand or have anyone living near you who might have some?

if it were me, and i did not have access to medications/vet care i would consider euthanizing him. but (obviously) this is a very personal decision.

hang in there and thanks for helping him.
