Hello! I need help ASAP!
my Pekin dick is about 18 weeks old and she has had leg problems in the past due to a niacin deficiency. They have been off of brewers yeast for a few days because I haven’t been able to get it. (I’m not sure if this is the issue or not) I have noticed that her walking has gotten really bad in the past 2 days! She can’t keep her balance and her webbed feet get flipped over when she walks. She seems to be drinking water and eating fine, but she is just laying around and not walking much! Before we she had the problem I gave her the vitamin B complex and it helped! Should I give her this again? Also she did trip on a rock a week ago so I’m not sure if this is the problem either. I’m very attached to my duck and I would be devastated if anything were to happen to her. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! Thank you!

Sorry to hear about your duck. Have you checked the bottom of her feet For abrasions or infection? Is her leg swollen? If it’s swollen and soft, not hard, it could be a sprain.

If it’s a niacin deficiency, the b complex would help (apparently needs to be b3 specifically).

Brewers yeast can be bought at a grocery store, but it has to be a certain kind.

Isaac O’s sticky thread in niacin definciency is a very helpful read:

I checked the bottom and didn’t see anything! I noticed that she has been laying down on her right side first. Do you think she has a right leg injury?

@Isaac 0 Can you post pics or video, for a video you have to upload to youtube and post the link here. Pictures of her feet, legs, and bottom of her feet please. Wish I could help more, Avery

I'm sorry you have a poorly ducky.

We give b complex when there might be more going on.

Is your pekin a big lass ? Sometimes weight can compound things.

Have you got her contained so she rests the leg?
She is very big! Probably 8-9 pounds. She is very unbalanced and leans down on her right side first. Her and the male duck look like they are trying to mate so I’m not sure if that has something to do with it either! She started to seem uninterested with food this morning so I am very concerned! What can I do?
