im a former wildlife carer and have these native ducklings to raise. they are fine and happy and doing fantastic. 3 weeks old and getting their feathers very rapidly. One started pooping weirdly tonight. I have never seen anything like it and therefore cannot diagnose it. Help please! they look like little grapes! perfectly shaped. Sorry the babies smooshed them before i got a good pic.

Could have been something they ate?

Lets get @casportpony here she is our poop expert in the mean time give us a run down on what they have been eating how they are acting[sounds like normal] and of course breed of ducklings and pics please.

AND :welcome

Looks like another poop to me. Of course, being new to ducks and with 6 baby Rouens, I have a little poop production facility going. So far, here is what I have observed and recorded.

1. The "I ate watermelon and drank water poop" - projectile liquid red mush, that other ducklings think is water melon so the cycle continues for the next half hour...

2. The normal poop - not sure what I was going to say here as they are all like picasso's of poop...seriously, my ducklings paint the walls with their poop. I thought only really bad human babies did that...

I don't think ducks are normal.:th

If we have had ducks for even a short length of time we have probably run the gamut on how many different kinds of poop water fowl can do. lol

Sometimes I have to take a second look and think what could they have eaten?

Its 3am here in australia and i just went to check them. They are still energetic and happy. However i caught one eating the newspaper... i think shes the weird pooper... will send photos in the morning. They are australian wood ducks. I took them to my partner place whom has property and a sheep and two dogs in the backyard which the ducks came on contact with. During the hot day i moved their tub in with his rats and snake shed as it is air conditioned.
Im just worried they picked up something. Not a big fan of rats . Their poop seems to be clearing up hopefully.

Round 34 today but humidity is like 93. It gets up to 46 at my partners place.
That's pretty warm, so maybe they're just drinking lots? I suggest getting a baseline weight on all of them, then re-weigh every 2-3 days.
