Hello to all you wonderful BYC'rs! I need help! I need a name for my small, 8 acre farm. I have 1 dog, 2 goats, 22 chickens, 2 rats, 1 gerbil, & 5 kids. We live out in a rural area on heavily wooded land where it is most generally quiet, unless my kids are outside!

We have lots of oak trees. I've thought about Shady Acres and several others that I won't mention here!

My DH and I have had a lot of fun trying to come up with a name, but have had no luck so far. I thought it would be cute to have something about chickens in the name. I'm usually pretty good at coming up with names for things, but I am at a complete loss this time. So, here I am begging you bright people for HELP! Thank you!

Naming your farm is like naming your kids. What kind of name do you want? Funny, cute, classic?

What esle can you tell us about the area? Is it windy, lot's of lakes, creeks, is there an animal linked to the area, etc?

A cute name, preferably.

We do have a beautiful "small" creek on the back side of our property. That is my family's peaceful spot, so to speak. We don't hunt or allow hunting of any kind on our property, so I consider it to be a haven. We don't have a lot of wind, no lakes (used to be but it's dried up), and have lots of deer and squirrels! Hmmmm... No you have me thinking in the right direction! Maybe Shady Brook Farm??? I know it's not a "cute" name, but it does go with our favorite spot on our property!

Beings that I am to far from retirement, I better steer clear of that one! Just kidding! I actually had thought of several names that had the words, peaceful, tranquil, and quiet in them BUT then I thought of what it sounds like when my kids are outside (which they are most of the time!) and those ideas quickly left!

I just talked to my DH and I think we are going with Shady Brook Farm, because that little brook is our favorite spot on our property. It is peaceful and serene. Thanks to all of you for the inspiration that I was looking for!
