Help! My goose eat a rope..?

Hi everyone! Well the power of prayers really works! Gabby is going better today! :D She is eating a little and walking around all day today and is even talking a bit. I am hopeful she may just pull through this! I haven't seen if she has passed the rope, but am just happy she is showing an improvement. PLEASE KEEP PRAYING!

Thank you so much for your support, I was a real mess yesterday thinking how I can put her down if it comes to that.. Gabby is such a wonderful goose, she loves to be picked up and hugged and will gab away at me until I do.. She's still not out of the woods, but I am thankful she is eating and looking a lot better today. I'll keep you all posted!

Hi everyone, here's a picture of Gabby.. This was taken a few weeks ago. As I said she is showing some improvement today, so please keep those prayers and good thoughts coming!

As you can see She always has to be in the picture and always wants to know what I'm doing! I just love this goose!

What a beauty. I hope she pulls through! Its so devastating when a dear pet is hurt or sick, heck I cry over the most unfriendly agressive birds who end up getting eaten

Hi everyone, thought i'd give you an update on Gabby. She is much her old self, but has lost a little weight. She isnt eating well either and i haven't seen to much poop action, as I haven't seen her do anything myself. She seems ok, eats a litte of her favorite bird seed mix but not so much grass lately. So im not sure if shes completely out of the woods yet. Its been two weeks, so she is at least up and about and gabbin up a storm.. I wish i understand goose talk as it sounds like shes trying to tell me how shes feels. She doesn't appear to be in any pain and is playing a little with her handsome Embden gander "M" around the pool. I think more prayers wouldn't hurt and Thanks again for all your support. Diane

Oh, forgot to mention Gabby has stopped laying eggs, but she had just started laying right before she ate the rope, so Im sure the stress of that has caused her to stop. I was able to get three eggs. The first i cracked open to see if it was fertile and it was

the two other eggs are in the incubator so i will know if they are fertile soon. Fingers crossed!

I would think the stress probably stop her egg laying. I hope you get some goslings, are you going to let the parents raise them?

Can you handle her? maybe feel along where her crop is if there is something there you may be able to feel it. I was always under the impression bird seed wasn't such a good diet for water fowl, can't remember why now or who said it. Are you talking about game bird feed or reg bird seed? have you ever thought of trying fermented feed? Or just making her up a mash of her feed with some very warm water with ACV mixed into it then add some cod liver oil or olive oil and see if that may get her moving things through. Sounds like she isn't quite up to par but doing better, just worrisome that the rope of some of it maybe still in there. Especially with you not seeing her eat much losing weight and not pooping much. My geese poop alot.
