Help, my new waterer overflows!

UPDATE:
I contacted the manufacturer of the drinker through email. I corresponded with "Bob" who over a couple of days and about 7 emails really helped me. The drinker is now working fine and watering my 100 roosters.
Because of the special attention I was given, I highly recommend their products! :thumbsup

OK, so what did you have to do to correct this leaking issue? Glad to hear that everything is working fine.

The Harris farms unit works with a float that acts as a valve. Algae and dirt can clog the valve as stated and it needs cleaning. Also found the float can water log and not float. I showed how to repair that here. I used RTV glue to seal the two injection molded pieces of the float together.

I also got tired of messing with this and went to a 15 gallon bucket and 8 horizontal nipples. This is even less trouble and we shall see at winter and if I need a heater or back to day water bowls.

I still love my Harris Farms 6 gallon drinker. I take it apart a couple times a season and empty the ring and clean it really well and it works great. I wish I had three of them! But they're a bit pricy. The large top for filling is the real seller for me. I have two of the octagonal type waterers, a 5 and a 3 gallon, and while they work fine, pouring into a 4" hole is just a total pain. I think I'm actually gonna clean them up really nice and see if I can't sell them on FB and just buy at least one more Harris Farms.

I also have a 6 gallon bucket with nipples that I want to use in the winter. Sadly, my one group of birds just refuses to use the nipples, so I guess they're sticking with a heated bucket. But I'm hoping I can get all the chicks on nipples before winter.
