I have 2 old hens that have very hard red bottoms. They walk like it hurts. I clean it but its not getting better. It's very swollen and hard. If you push on it they ooze out and looks like their insides want to come out. I'm not sure what it is or how to make it better.

You could try some warm soaks to see if it will relax them. I suppose they could be eggbound, but internal laying and vent gleet also come to mind. That wide stance suggests internal laying to me, actually. Do their abdomens seem distended or enlarged, or feel as if there is fluid in there?

Thank you for all the great advice. I'm not sure if they still lay eggs, I have 20 hens and not sure which ones still lay. I cleaned their bottoms again and put "girl cream" on them. I got some plain yogurt and put some diatomaceous earth mixed in. I will mix up some acv and garlic water tomorrow.

Thanks again,
I'm glad I joined this group.

Here is a picture of her all cleaned up.

I tried to drain it today and only got a few drops of puss and blood. I soaked them in Ebson salt water.
I'm not. Sure what else to do.
I'm Afraid it may be her time. :(
