HELP!!!!!!!! My one girl is VERY SICK WHAT CAN I DO??

well I didn't know that I knew, but I did syringe feed her the way you described. whew.

If it went to her lungs then would she have coughed or something?

I'll try some honey on her tongue and see what she does.

i'm so sorry! The poor sweet girl. She is so lucky to have you to give her love and peace in her final moments. You know, all we can do is the best we can do. You have gone above and beyond. It may not be the right time to say it, but if she does pass, perhaps you should save her body (in the refrigerator, not the freezer) and ask a vet to do a necropsy. It may help to understand what happened to her, provide some closure, and provide guidance with the care of your other chickens.

Again, i am so very sorry. You gave it the gallant effort. She was loved and treasured, and that is a wonderful thing. :aww

hey not so fast says our little fighter of a hen!
We went out tonight to ride our horses. We were resigned to believing we'd come home to find she had made her transition.
When we walked into her room she was looking right back at us. She was awake! She's got some strength back -- can hold her head up a bit and is taking food again from the syringe -- this time fightin' me a bit which I don't mind. I'd really love for her to take some food herself tonight so I'll keep trying. Unbelievable. I'm so happy...smiling....she might make it back after all. :)

Thank again to everyone who has gone through these couple of days with us. Your support has really meant a lot to us.

In this morning's feeding she stood up! She sits back down again and fades in and out of having energy, but that's progress!

I fed her a mixture of her ground up feed, yogurt and water. I'll change it up with some ground cat food next time. Does anyone have any other suggestions for the best diet now that she's turned the corner?

I've been following this story too. I hope she keeps improving!

Maybe try some scrambled egg with bits of string cheese. My girls will kill for that.
