Aloha from Hawaii !
We don’t have any veterinarian I know if here in the island. No vet. Here will treat chickens.

so I am asking for help, to the possible problem /
Treatment that I could try.

My rooster was fine last week.
Then I noticed his left eye closed. Not puffy or dings of infection. I Read the eye with Celine solution and put in new Sporrinse the eye with Celine solution and put Antibiotic gel.
No changes two days latter.

then other eye started to open only half way.
Then latter, he will not open it rather.

I hand feed him. He eats !
Perky when he hears the other chickens out side.

I don’t know what to do for him.
Gave him Her antibiotic for a couple of days but see no change so I stopped.

please help if you have some idea how I should treat this.
Big Mahalo !!

Welcome To BYC!

Can you post some photos of the rooster, his eyes and of the inside of his beak?

It has alway layers over to the left, but the color is mostly red. I will take photos tonight after work.
He seems to getting some what more alert and energetic. The past two days after I had to hand feed him. & water. He will crow and eat by himself when he can hold his eye open a slight bit.
getting back a Appetite.

Do t think it’s ( eye worm ) but I don’t know for sure yet this is a new one to me.
my other rooster had some thing like this.
I treated his eye with triple antibiotic something like Neosporin. After 5 days he was back and the eye was open again.
I tried that with this one ( bob Jr. ) but it did not seem to have a reaction. Mahalo !

Photo of ( bob jr. ) as of tonight.
He opens both eye a bit now.
seems perky much more then just a few days ago.
Comb is turning a bit black on the tips today.

he eats & drinks, getting back his appetite.
I have been using eye wash and for the past two days, putting eye worm medicine eyedrops in, that I got at the local feed store. I don’t won’t to use any more for now.
Just received new Oral antibiotic and probiotic in the msil today. I will post the name of them latter.

Big Mahalo for all the support !!!

Aloha from a Hawaii !!
I just found this on a YouTube

this look just like my rooster.

I think I will try the probiotic I got tonight instead of the antibiotic. Because he seems to be getting better some what. I don’t won’t to use the antibiotic and take it backwards.

Been feeding him Vegetables fruit and grain.
he is eating better.

What are your thoughts .

mahalo !!

The video isn't working.

Do you feed him any poultry feed? I would try to get some protein into him - egg, fish or meat - a little each day.
If you have them, direct dose him with poultry vitamins for a few days as well.

The comb turning black on the tips is concerning - lack of oxygen is the cause sometimes.

Probably not enough.
I feed him in the morning and go to work.
he stays freely in the fenced yard.
i can feed him again until the of the day.

the wild chickens jump the fence and eat all the rest that he did not.

I have a watering canteen that I try to keep clean responsible every day. But in Hawaii it can get growth fast.
There is a small section of plants and soil that they like to hide in during the day.
he might have gotten Bacteria infection walking around back there. Not Sure.
I gave him probiotic last night, and will start the
Mild wide spectrum antibiotic today.
