Help! My previously craziest/healthiest/biggest 4 day old chick overnight is not doing well. :(

Thanks so much for the posting this. I am new to this site, but this is exactly the type of info I was looking for. I got my first chicks 5 days ago, and am going through a similar situation to yours. My biggest, most active, best eating/drinking chick, an Easter Egger, suddenly just isn't right. Not eating, drinking only with assistance, and not moving around. If I move her she just stays wherever I put her. I want to try your smoothie, but my question is, by "scramble" the egg with the oil, do you mean just mix together and feed raw, or do you mean cook, as in scrambled eggs? Thanks for your help.

Scramble the egg in the oil. Cook it. Then put the electrolyte water (or I guess just water if you don't have electrolyte powder) in and blend. You definitely want to cook the egg! My girl isn't 100% , but she is better and is eating. Good luck...your babies are only a day younger than mine, I hope she makes it!

Hello Cindi,

I have a similar situation and my little bantam isn't wanting to stand and seems not be able to stand long and just lays around and mostly sleeps. I got them a little over a week ago at the local feed store. Do you think this will work doesn't little bantam? I just started giving vitamin electrolyte in their water

Hi dmkrieg,

I'm a total chicken newbie, don't want to steer you wrong! I've owned chickens for less than a week. All I can tell you is what the people at MPC told me...I would have to defer to the chicken experts here. There are many different factors and things it could be (heat? food? drafts?) and they know the right questions to ask to help you! Try posting to the baby chick thread as well....start a new thread so your question doesn't get overlooked. There are tons of really fantastically helpful, knowledgeable people here. I would also call the feed store that you got them from. They may be able to help you as well!

Good luck and I hope your babies are OK...

Im still trying to figure out how and where to post. Hahah I'm excited to see so many people like myself that love these crazy chickens and happy to find a forum to chat about our babies. Thanks again for your reply.

And she lived and is thriving! (as evidenced by new avatar photo). Took a little while, but now she's back to 100%. I vaccinated all my babies yesterday, and they're all good. Yeeeahhhhh!!!!! :) Thumbs up for the Miracle Smoothie!
