Help...my rabbit kicks all his bedding out

Our rabbit refuses to let us keep any kind of bedding in his pen. It has been near zero temps that last couple nights and we had put straw in his pen to help keep him warm. He kicked it all out. He does this with the shavings too. Any suggestions?

I would also like to know I have a lionhead doe who does the same thing I can put it in there today and it will be gone tommorrow all over the ground.I thought if I put a shelf liner in the bottom because she kicks most of hers through the wire bottom. I dunno maybe somebody will have a better solution.

i use a piece of cardboard to let mine set on and stay warm though they love to shed it so the cage looks messy but i figure there staying warmer then just setting on the wire you could always wire a couple of peices down throw some straw on top though you need to be sure there potty corner is uncovered

I litterly stuff the sleeping area with straw and hay..so he cannot to anything but tunnel his way in...

Yes. Pack it in tight. Make it look like a tunnel.

it feels good for him to dig... rabbits are suppose to dig.... he is doing it because it feels good/ different on his feet that the wire cage feels (if he is on a wire floor) I have one buck that does this when I hodl him he digs at my lap...he will eventually stop digging at it. just be persistent and put it back in!

Use an old piece of carpet on the cage bottom then fill it....

our cage has a couple of inches of plastic on the sides to keep most of the mess in..... If the plastic isn't there or the litter is too high then I get it everywhere.....

I also made a box with an open bottom and a door that's big enough for him to get into... this way he feels he's in a tunnel....

Nothing fancy just some old wood that we had laying around....

I have a darwf rabbit that wants VERY little litter in his cage and the food and water have to be in certain spots in the cage or it's all over as well... talk about psyco

I put a cat litter box in the hutch to give my bunnies a place to get off the wire floor. I empty the box daily and throw a little alfalfa and veggies in it it.

For sleeping quarters, I use the plastic buckets that clumping cat litter comes in. I remove half of the lid to help keep the wood shavings in.
