Quite... He most likely considers it a threat to his hen and as such, wants it gone.

Try laying it down in the yard by him and see what he does. Then set it down beside a hen.

It's most likely a "Holy crap! What the heck IS that thing! I'll saaaaaaave you!!!!" kinda thing.

Maybe get one that is a color that blends in with her feathers?

I would think pink or red might get them riled up since they seem to be attracted to those colors.
