so long story short.

I cleaned out a nest after hatching was done, two dead babies, 2 very rotten eggs, 1 peeping egg, yikes.

it's under the heat lamp, no progression, cold to the touch, moisture is good, I worry that it's dying. and I should intervene.

that being said, I do have the bator going, but, lockdown isn't until the 1st of may, I don't want to risk losing all those eggs.
but, if i put the egg in there with a wet paper towel on it, will that be okay, or is it too risky for the other eggs??

me too, some say put it in my bra, however, I want to go to bed soon, and I have to work in the morning.

how can that be enough humidity in your bra.

But what about humidity issue? this is a duck egg, right now humidity is at 41%, there are chicken eggs in there.
how do i get humidity up for the duck egg wiithout spiking humidity too much for chicken eggs

Put it on a bit of moist paper towel as you suggested if you want to. But to be honest it doesn't seem as if you have heaps of options here. Putting it in the incubator with lower than ideal humidity is better than keeping it under a heat lamp with even less humidity.

The humidity is probably a minor issue in the scheme of things right now.

okay, it just peeped at me, yay.

so i have put it into the incubator, I put a damp paper towel around it, but, not smothering it.

fingers crossed, if this baby makes it, I will be absolutely shocked, surprised and very happy. it's had a busy day !!

Great!

Make sure the paper towel is not covering any spot where it might start pipping. Personally I'd remove the paper towel and wait till the duckling starts to come out and then moisten the egg membrane with your finger if you think it looks a bit dry. Or just leave it to do its own thing - after all it could take 24 hours or more to make it out so that's a lot of waiting around.

Fingers crossed for the little one!!
