HELP! Need unconfusing about egg carton method hatch

Ok I'm happy with the egg carton incubating method, and the putting them in really cut down cartons to the point of them just being rings.

I hatched all 21 eggs that went into lock down. I started with 46 shipped eggs, all of them had some of the worst jiggly airsacs I have EVER seen.. Some of the ones that went into lock down were so bad I didn't know if they could hatch.

I put them in the rings I had one hatch on day 20, 19 chicks hatched during the day of on day 21, and one somewhere during the night of night 21 the last hatched. I was able to see the pipping of each egg and the last ones that hatched where not rolled and knocked every which way by the first to hatch. I am very happy.. I really never thought all 21 would hatch, what a wonderful surprise.

Thank you as well! I'm about to go down and cut the bottoms of my carton...just put them in an hour ago...so hope its ok.

I used the cartons to incubate them in then I cut the bottoms out for hatching. That way if the chick does hatch out the wrong end or the egg gets rotated by others they can still get out. But I really liked the eggs not rolling every which way during the hatch. It was awesome to see all of them hatch.

If you read all the post you will see how I incubated them. Let me know if you have any questions..

I love this idea! What diameter do you use to affect a 45 degree tilt?

I use 1/2" pvc. Sorry took so long to answer that, didn't see the question till now.
