Help Needed - BYC Breed Pages Cleanup

This is a pretty big undertaking and we want to make sure it is the right thing to do.

We'd have to:
  1. Create a second breed page for each breed (a TON of work)
  2. Rename all the existing breed pages to something like "Cochin - Large Fowl" or "Cochin - Bantam"

I'm worried that the pros may not outweigh the cons, and before we embark we want to make 100% sure it is the right decision AND that there are members committed to helping setup the new pages.

So, what do you think? Is it worth the extra effort to have them split up or will it be too much work, too much confusion/complexity, and too many extra pages to sort through? IF everyone decides this is the best decision, who's willing to help create pages (pictures and information)? We definitely don't want to proceed without knowing if we should and if we have help.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts and comments!!

I personally like that option of creating 2 different pages for existing breed pages.

Even doing 1 page for each breed. And putting the pictures into 2 sections "Large Fowl" and "Bantam". And the section showing the age/stages of life do a "Large Fowl" and "Bantam" sections. But it would create more confusion in my opinion, my suggestion is what I mean.

Also, I don't think this belongs in "Chicken Breeds".

And this Orpington was in the "Other Poultry" section.

And I disagree that the breed section should only do the APA standards of perfection for each bird. I believe this is only a guide to go by, a tool to fall back on or compare to someone's chickens they have now. And it should also have a warning say something like "Warning: This only a guide for chicken breeds. This does shows the birds with APA Standards of Perfection and Hatchery Birds. Not to be used as a show bird, guide." Or something along those, I can't get my words out. :/ I think only putting the "perfect" poultry would cause more confusion.

I am not a newbie, but I go to the guide if I want to see what type of chickens I have. Or find other breeds I want or like. And most would think I have no right to suggest anything, since I am still kind of new to this. I have raised chickens. But I eventually want to show and breed chickens. So I have been doing my research regularly. Just wanted to state my opinion.

EDIT: By the way, I hope it isn't to late for me to post this. Saw that this was about 2 or 3 months old. :)

I have to agree. Two pages may be a bigger pain in the tookus, but it would be more clear. And lord knows any clarity that can be gained in the chicken world is a precious thing.

Although, I have to disagree about the APA thing. Something to think about is the fact that many breeds have REALLY invested breeders that are very protective of the APA standard. I don't think you could get away with posting non standard colors for Ameraucanas without a LOT of flak getting thrown about. Besides, that bleeds over into Easter Eggers, then things get messy.... you see where I'm going.

You could mention that there are other non-standard colors in development under a footnote or something.
