candled the eggs today and 6 out of seven are fertile and perfect for day five. Just posting an update.

:clap

Fab pics!

Thanks Yorkshire, I love this part. After that horrible smell and one egg being so nasty and the extreme dirt on the eggs and my having to wash them I was really concerned. I still understand due to their vaulted heads hatch can be tough but all of these candled eggs look so amazing for day five. My daughter and I were jumping up and down with excitement. Dad too !!!

I am monitoring temps and humidity and weight loss of the eggs and all looks good on that end.

I will not candle too often as all I have read indicate they are a little more sensitive to hatch but will post pics again at next candle.I am praying we have six little poofy headed polish kids soon.

Your most welcome and good luck :fl

They are a lot tougher than you think, I've had the incubator full of polish and they have not had issues with being sensitive. I don't candle often only day 7 day 14 and a quick look at lockdown. Quite evil actually when they are hatching ~

I adore this video of your Polish chicks. A friend of mine calls them Phyllis Dillers. LOL

Thank you for the input about them being tougher than I think. I try to do a lot of reading when I am hatching something new and I read in a few cases that people had low hatch rates possibly due to various things such as maybe lower humidity during first part of incubation to loss at hatch due to vaulted shape of the heads etc.
I have now hatched six batches in my Brinsea mini and have not lost any. Only a couple due to non development at first candle etc.
I will not worry as much now :)

Update !! out of the group we have four that have made it to day 20. I candled on day 18 briefly just prior to lockdown and all four looked perfect.
I woke up this morning to two being pipped. I am hearing chirps.
Someone mentioned a problem at hatch due to their vaulted heads but I am hoping not and Yorkshire coop I don't think you had this problem.
So we wait. Temp has been right at 100 the entire time.
humidity at 60% to 65% with both water pots being full on the Brinsea.
Fingers crossed my baby polish make it through just fine.

Yes, That incubator is locked down and the weekend is here so I will be home to witness it all. I will post pics of our lil babies as soon as they arrive. I can't wait to lay eyes on them.

Good luck!! I had a couple of my silkies with big vaults that I ended up having to help with zipping. Once I got the head up I understood why it was having trouble turning to zip....lol

So sorry it has taken me so long. Crazy weekend. We had three out of four hatch on Friday night

See pics. They are amazing. The forth was inspected and found to have the brain on the outside of the top of the head. Had begun to absorb the yolk sac but died at that stage. A friend said their vaulted heads can cause that. The other three are the most precious things I have ever laid my eyes on.

Thanks so much for checking on us. Any tips on sexing these sweeties at an early age. Does wing feathers apply to Polish? [VIDEO]
