Hi there I'm having similar issues with the walking on their knuckles not their feet , I new they would eventually die and I wasn't having it. I tried something radical and the only thing I could think off. I made feet casts and left them in them for a whole day so they were made to walk on their feet. It actually worked one was really bad but removed them the following day and fixed. It's very tricky but if you have the patients it works.
I used the medical white paper tape which is really sticky. Turned them upside down splayed one foot at a time and cut a square then add another square on top and gently push between the toes so tape joins to each other make sure nuckle isn't covered.
Then trim around so it reduces size. This really works be careful when taking off use fine sewing scissors to remove.
