In the Brooder
UPDATE:
I added oyster shells and a variety of scratch seeds to give them more to do. I also used a lotion bought at fleetfarm to help with the dry areas and prevent further pecking.
The pecking completely stopped that first day exactly one week ago and they already have feathers growing back.
The space is going to be harder to add too just due to my confinement but my theory was the new chicks were being sasy with the older ladies. Essentially getting back at them for the way they picked on them to establish the order and the young chicks just snapped back even harder.
Just adding a bunch of scratch to keep them occupied even got them to start sharing the roost this week. They had refused to share the roost until this point. Only the three older ones would sit there unless the two younger birds we're up there and the older ones would refuse to share.
Back to happy ladies again!!!!
