HELP!!!!neighbors dog is killing my flock....

DO NOT USE POISON. If the fact that it's utterly cruel and harms the environment doesn't bother you, then you should be aware that you can be held liable for animal cruelty in that case. Don't do that to the dog or yourself.

Definitely the first thing you need to do is find a more secure place for the remaining chickens.

The second is keep documenting every time something happens. Document, document, document! Write down the place, date, time, what happened, and what you saw. What is written down is what is admissible in a court of law. Take lots of pictures (preferably with date/time stamp) and video. Buy or borrow a game cam.

Keep trying to either trap, or get a shot off at the dog. When you finally catch it or kill it, call animal control immediately and get it on report what happened. They will either pick up the dog or clear you to dispose of it.

Proceed with prosecution and get your money back.

Don't put out anti-freeze. Unless it specifically says it is non-toxic, it is the same ethylene-glycol from years before. It brings on a horrible, painful slow death. Better to use the gun if you must kill them. Poisoning will probably also get you in legal trouble for cruelty to animals. Hard to explain away the doggie bowl with neon green kool-aid as an accident.

Am I correct in understanding htat both you and the neighbor whose dogs have been killing your chickens both rent from the same property owner, who has told you to not speak to (confront) the other tenant about your birds that their dog has killed? If that is the case, send the bill for their loss and the tractor damage to your landlord, and state that you expect him to require that his other tenant keep their dogs contained; that you will hold HIM (or her) liable if he will not require his tenant to contain and control their animals.

Sure it is. Put it in an oil pan or such and just say "I was working on my truck yesterday afternoon and must have forgot"
But I agree, much better for the dog to just shoot it.
Although, it's not like dogs kill chickens quickly either, they suffer from being chased around and harassed and injured, before they get killed. And sometimes shooting around neighbors can be dangerous to the people around, so in that case the antifreeze starts looking pretty nice.

Basically you gotta do what you gotta do and not judge. There are some on here who advocate drowning trapped preds, and some who say it's bad, basically you gotta do what YOU can live with yourself afterwards.

THIS sounds like a REALLY awesome idea!!!!!!!!!!!!
Definitely document document document, send paper letters, call the animal control and sheriff, etc.
And try to fix your pens in such a way to keep the dogs out. Obviously tractors are less secure than a solid structure, especially for digging under, so you're at a disadvantage keeping your birds that way.

Keep this in mind - from today:

TROUTDALE, Ore. – A Troutdale man faces felony charges for allegedly trapping and killing a neighbor’s dog.

David Shonk told KGW that a young Siberian Husky, named Yukon killed 30 of his chickens more than a year ago. He said he confronted the dog’s owner and called Animal Control, but nothing was done. Then, he said the dog kept wandering back to his property and so he set a foot trap, caught the dog, shot it and then buried it.

“After repeated incidents I thought it was necessary for me to protect my property and my right to grow food for my family,” he said.

Ron Barber, who lives next to the owner of the dog, said it has been upsetting.

“That's pretty inhumane… for someone to shoot a dog when he's in the trap and shoot him and then bury him,” said Barber.

The dog’s owner was not home for comment.

If you do anything, SSS.

No The dog owners rent from somebody other than we do. I had spoke to the property owners first , because I needed to know who lived there and owned the dogs. They have alot of traffic over there. So we just wanted to be well informed. They have stated that they do require the dogs to be penned up. Not happening. The animal control did not come by as they stated, they would. I will again call. I will keep you posted. Thanks everybody

Call the cops.

From what I've heard on here and from other places animal control is joke.

Continue to call AC and document, document, document.
Every call to AC and the time, calls to the sherriffs department and the conversations, make them come out and write up a report.
Show pics etc... take more if needed. Get a game cam.

I wouldn't shoot it or poison it. The owners are the problem.
