Ok so I’m on day 32. Never done this before so I’m learning as I go. I have 8 eggs in a little giant forced air incubator and I had them in a automatic egg turner. I read today that it’s best to take them out of the egg turner so I did that this morning. I went to turn them a half hour ago and noticed a dark round circle on the pointed end of the egg. I candled it and saw a little bill!! Then I noticed another egg where I could see the bill in the air sack. I put them back and did not turn the 2 where I could see the bill. I’ve read where it’s best to put them in a still air incubator for hatching so I’ve got that up and running. When do I put them in that one?? I’ve read that at a certain point you need to leave the lid closed so you don’t shrink wrap so I’m not sure what to do because so far only 2 have internally pipped. Just trying to figure out when to put them on lockdown. Also do I continue turning the other eggs? Hopefully this made sense.

I would lock them down now but until an egg externally pips you can still open the incubator to make adjustments or check on them. We recently hatched muscovy eggs and I found they took 36 hours from externally pipping to finally hatching, so be patient with them. It should be 24 hours from internal pip to external pip. Exciting!

Ok great! Is it definitely a good idea to put them in the still air incubator? I have it set to 100.5 but it’s reading 100.9. I have 2 thermometers inside and one says 99 the other says 93. Is it supposed to vary that much?? Also I originally had that I thought we were on day 29 but it’s actually day 32!
Thank you very much for your help.

Thank you very much for your help.

I hatched mine in a forced air incubator as that's all I've got. The still air likely will vary a bit temperature wise, but it could be the thermometers as well (unless you've calibrated them).

Ours hatched out on day 35. They are such cute babies.

Ok so I decided to just leave them in the forced air incubator. This morning there was no other progress so I decided to check them quickly because I was debating about possibly making an air hole because I’ve read that won’t harm anything. The 2 eggs that had pipped internally are still alive. I can here one of them tapping on the shell. But then I noticed a different one had actually popped externally! The 2 I’m concerned about are coming up on 24 hours so now with no pip externally so now I’m not sure what to do.

I'm not an expert, but just hatched 8 out of 9 with patience and the last one with lack of patience(I helped, or hindered)
8 healthy and vibrant. 1 assisted weak.
I looked and read and searched at every stage. The best advice was leave them alone.
My first egg external piped on Tuesday afternoon, wrong end.
Thursday morning out and strong.
Wait and watch.

That is very helpful! Thank you so much.

I had to help one of my babies. He pipped internally (the first to do so) then did nothing more. I made a safety hole once 24 hours had passed because he wasn't talking back to me like he had been. I left him for another 48 hours but he still hadn't pipped externally or done anything. He was still alive though so I broke him out. He was absolutely perfectly fine, so I don't know why he hadn't hatched. I'm glad I saved him though because he is my favourite.

Looking forward to hearing some good news.
