Help! One chick paralyzed partially & another injured leg

Update: May is still doing ok. She is still isolated. She is eating, drinking and pooping well. I have added those Vitamin packs to her water, and then poured that water on her food. TO make sure she is staying hydrated. I will make a sling for her, because she is still able to use her legs sometimes, and wobble around, and I don't want her legs to atrophy.

May's poo, collected from her isolation tub. One is regular and one I turned on the flash. I am just feeding her the Nature's best chick starter, and water with vitamin packs. IMG_5124.jpeg IMG_5123.jpeg

Rosie is outside with the Russian Orloff and other light Brahma, and she is also doing well. However, the healthy two are getting quite larger than Rosie, so my paranoia of further injuring her is taking over. I have a few videos, but I don't know how to upload them!:0

Here is a pic of the healthy two. This was taken about a week ago. You can see how much bigger they are than May, and Rosie is behind may in size as well. But Ginger, the RO, is really coming along. They are also much more friendly, outgoing, and bossier than the Rosie and May. (Hoping for Pullet. Fingers crossed.) Any thoughts would be great and ill post some better pictures on Monday.

Thank you to everyone who is helping. The chicken love caught us off guard. lol.

Keep May's vent clean and continue to offer B2 (Riboflavin). I would crush 1/4 human B-Complex and add it to her food daily.
It's hard to tell about her leg. Do you have photos of her poop?

If the mass on her breast is on the right side, it's probably her crop. Check it throughout the day to see if it goes up and down in size. What do you feed your chicks?

Do you know if Rosie for sure got the leg caught or injured somehow? It looks like she may have a leg bone deformity like Valgus Varus or twisted tibia. This is usually due to genetics or nutritional deficiency in parent stock. She may also benefit from B vitamins as well - I would give her the same as May (1/4tab daily).

Have you felt of Rosie's leg at the knee - is there any swelling?

May's poo. She is still isolated, so that is just hers. One has the flash and one does not.

They are all so cute!

It sounds like you are doing everything you can for them. Getting May in a sling for short periods of time may help. As for Rosie, she may learn to adapt and be o.k.

Here are some betters pics of Rosie's leg. I think it may be the tendon, because her knee is so swollen. those were really great links. We will be trying to get better pictures of May's leg.

Thank you again. It has been a hard couple weeks, but we are keeping everyone on track as best as possible. Have a wonderful day! :)

Did you see the poo pics? I think it looks good. :fl

Yes! The poop look good:)

Ok so then we know it's not cocciosis??? I called Privet's Hatchery, the chick supplier for Tractor supply and they thought that was what May had. They also said it was unlikely that she had Marek's, since that is usually an oder chick disease. Though I am still not sure if I agree with them. This is very frustrating. Thank you again :he:frow

That poop does not make me think Coccidiosis.

Are you giving May vitamins that contain B2 (Riboflavin)?

It's possible it could be Marek's. While usually the "timeline" that is shows up is a little older, it's not unheard of for chicks to develop symptoms at 3wks.
I am sure it's very frustrating:hugs I would try to get her going on the vitamins, see that she is eating well and encourage her to exercise those legs if possible.

Ok great. She is getting a lot of vitamins( the packs have over riboflavin 400% so I’m adding it slowly) and I’ve added some new food. The Scratch and Peck, for a change of pace and to keep her entertained. We made her the sling and it works great. I am going to work on a bigger one that we can adjust as she grows. She is very alert, active, she just isn’t able to stand all the time on her own. Sometimes she is for awhile. I do agree that it is weird that out of four chicks and two ducklings, that two of them have leg issues. So we will be finding a new source for hens and have to do a very strict isolation period to ensure the flock starts healthy.

It is very frustrating and it’s hard to make sure everything is clean and that I am not mixing up anything for the hens or the other chicks. Because I don’t want to contaminate them or bring anything into their area.

Thank you again. I appreciate all the help. It’s been a very hard week. We lost a cat this week as well. So we are trying our best to keep the chicks happy and healthy! In good news it does look like Rosie is a pullet! I was checking out the forum on BY And she looks identical to the other Sicilian buttercup females. We had already dicusssed keeping everyone though even if they’re Roos. Lol.
