Yes they do. Keep it warm in a quiet place. If it makes it through the night, offer it water, then food.I just don't know what to do - Do chickens go in to shock?
Don't laugh, but sometimes I keep them on my chest through the night. Or in a box next to me under the covers. You can also use hot water bottles. The way I can tell if they are warm enough is by checking the temperature of their legs. If their legs are cold to the touch, they are too cold. Good luck. It's eating some yogurt off of my finger and taking water. All with it's eyes mostly closed. It's going to be challenging to keep it warm tonight, Our furnace stopped working last night and the repair man can't come until Wednesday, so I think I'm in for a long night warming up bean bags!
Thank you - I put a heating pad under the blankets. I also dipped it's beak in water with a little drop of pure maple syrup and it did drink and then shake it's head. Still with it's eyes closed. I'd say that I probably stepped on it's left side because it seems to be curled a little around that direction. Finger's crossed that it's just in shock - poor thing![]()
