Help!!!! Opened incubated egg too soon! Chick's still alive?!?

CONGRATS, kitkat!! You did an amazing job!!

I didn't read this thread until it was 20 pages long and I couldn't put it down. This has all the makings of a great movie!!! LOL Suspense, intrigue, love, camaraderie, sadness, hope, joy, sympathy, empathy, beauty, adorableness, humor - what more could a producer want?!

BTW, what kind of music are you piping into their digs? And when will they get their own TV? LOL

Oh,wow,it has been a while since I've been on here. Update time! Yes,they are huge! Lol it turns out Nugget's a roo (a gorgeous one, at that), so we had to find him a new home. He's happy now with a flock of his own. Sadly, Nia has become a bit of a recluse, as our girls are not the friendliest. I'll have to post pictures of the two, they've both grown up to be beautiful birds

(yes,I'm bragging. it's what proud mommas do lol)

just my thoughts. She has been stuck in the egg for a while in a weird position. If you just leave them alone after a little bit their legs will straighten out on their own. In my experience putting those heavy shoes on their delicate legs can make it worse. I think I would take all that stuff off of her a just give her a little time to work it out on her own. If after a day or two if she is unable to stand then I would intervene but, I wouldn't do anything right now it is possible you could cause a problem that otherwise have worked itself out. Just my thoughts on the experiences I have gone through. Good luck.
not to mention the curled toe thing isn't a big deal. I ordered chick's last year and 2 had some seriously crooked feet and they both grew into perfectly fine crooked toed hens...no issues roosting, walking, scratching..I would never even worry with trying to fix crooked toes.

I'd leave her in the shell with the yolk so she can absorb it
