Hi there everyone, I wanted to know if you all could help me out with this one silver lace polish chick. She is about 4 months old. She has a sister silver lace polish, buff lace polish, gold lace polish, and is in with other chicks her age (pheonix, mottled houdan rooster, buff brahma, araucanas), and they have integrated in with our older flock from last year (black sex link, red sex link, and barred rocks).

The other young chicks are running around and eating, acting normal, having fun in the run in the sun, but this little silver polish isn't. She won't run around like her sister, won't eat, won't drink, and she just sits where you put her. we put her next to the water dish yesterday and wouldn't drink. She was sitting on her perch this morning when I brought her in to examine her. She just stands and lets her head droop down, and when I pull her crown up to see her eyes, she keeps them closed... She will only respond if we pet her.

Does anyone know what is happening to her? We are worried. We don't want her to die. She is a sweet little chick. Thank you. - Sloane

Aww,

Can you squirt some water or vitamin water in her beak? A small plastic syringe, or clean medicine dropper could be used, perhaps?

Certainly, you want to help her stay hydrated, just as you would if it was your child who was ill.

Just a thought, but hydration is a basic need that must be met.

Unfortunately, I don't know what is wrong with her. But dehydration can also cause lethargic behaviors.

Good luck and keep us posted!:)

Okay, thank you! I will make sure she is properly hydrated. I don't know if the heat is getting to her or what, but water is key. Thank you!
