Help...Pekins still having leg problems

If you have 5 Pekins, might I suggest this container of niacin:

It’s a little more expensive, but it will go a lot farther than the one from Walmart. Honestly what I do it suck out the complex from injectable bottle and fill up the dropper bottle from Walmart just because it’s easier to dispense. And each Pekin would need 1mL a day of the concentrated complex. Which is not a large volume at all.

I can remember if you said, do they get out and have time to run around?

I have a large Pekin who is just now fully feathered. I’m pretty sure she has sprained her ankle. So I have her and a friend cooped up and plan to keep them that way all weekend. I’m going to give them 1mL each a day. It takes about 5 seconds. I’m going to keep their movements restricted for the most part. Then bring them out and let them swim so she can get exercise without the weight. Then put her and the friend back in their little area to rest. I’m not sure if this will help your littles, but I’m just sharing what I’m currently doing to help my squishy friends. The one who is injured is named Dani and she is absolutely gorgeous. I love Pekins. Flaws and all......

They all get out and play, we have a big fenced in yard for them to run around in a day. We have two kiddie pools that we fill up usually twice a day because they get the water so dirty. So do we give them all 1ml of that new vitamin b a day, is that enough?

Yes. It has 100 mgs of niacin, which a couple good research articles suggest when they are having issues. So 1mL=100mgs of niacin. I would give them 100mgs a day until they are acting like they are feeling better and physically better.

I’m currently giving the same treatment above to some of my babies that ate calf starter for a couple days/week instead of their food. Their legs started turning in and I could see the legs shaking too. Just in a few days, I can see improvement. They aren’t perfect, but I can tell they physically feel better and less shaking.

I’m at my wits end here...I don’t know what to do for my pekins, we now have 2 going on 3-5 that won’t be able to walk soon. It breaks my heart so bad and I feel so bad for them. I let them swim in warm water a couple of times and day, and they have been getting vitamin B. I’ve also been putting brewers yeast in their food. I’ve given them fresh vegetables as well. The one seems to be getting a bit stronger but still can’t keep her feet uncrossed. We’ve tried taping stuff to the bottom of her feet and put something in between her legs. Please can anyone help.
Hello...I have not read through the thread because I believe they have developed degenerative joint disease which is common in Meat Birds...Sorry...An X-ray would confirm it though.

I have some Pekins that are in good health and are living happy lives. I think these birds lives are precious and are very much wanted by the OP. It will be worth the effort to give them some extra vitamins so they can become strong and healthy.

But you are correct they are quite heavy and prone to leg problems, but most owners don’t know this ahead of time and what to watch for.

I told Tyler yesterday that it was going to happen to one of the other pekins and sure enough we went to let them out of their nighttime kennel and it couldn’t walk. Yesterday it’s feet was just a bit turned in and it was walking wrong. I just want my babies better!
