Good morning ! I desperately need help. My grandsons pet chicken is eating eggs. The first time was yesterday and she only ate one. This morning I caught her in the act, but by then she had already eaten 7 eggs! 30 years ago when I had a large flock of 30+ an egg eater would find herself in the soup pot. But my grandson is 8 and is autistic, and he loves this black feathered misguided soul. He has already lost both his mom and dad, so the loss of his pet would destroy him at this point in his life. The culprit is a copper Marin. I need help with ideas.

My best way is to gather the eggs more. Every hour, if necessary. I have found that the more eggs, the more chance for one to break and then the egg eating starts. Be careful with the mustard eggs, if the hen eats it all she may get sick.
