Yay Chicks! :

He looks good. Very bright-eyed! I'm not sure about the purplish tips of the comb...is that supposed to be an oxygen issue?

I think it is lack or oxygen...he NEVER had this Before the Attack, ONLY After....
I notice it is Purpleish like you see in the first picture when i first go into grab him after I have left him be for a few hours....But Once I get him to move around it gets better.....Could This Be because of the attack and because he is Not moving due to his leg?????? I don't think it is his heart because he was NOT like this Before the Attack ????
I read somewhere on here that is they are Stressed or less active...that they can get purple tips...I really hope it is not a sign that he is going own hill....I do NOT want to lose this ROO !!!

The comb would be because he lost a lot of blood, his body's still making more and keeping what it has in his vital organs before the comb.

He looks so good!

I would say just let him eat whatever he wants, the eggs are great protein so it is awesome that he is wanting to eat them. You are doing such a great job! Way to go chicken momma!!!

(Do you have vitamins/electrolites in his water?)

Sounds reasonable...

ONLY thing is....there was NO external bleeding...so makes me wonder if it was Internal (and that is no good).....
One minute is is purple tips, next minute is is Normal..then the very next it is purple again...lol
As long as he gets better...it can be whatever color it wants to be IMO !

I went ahead and cleaned out the bigger cage and am going to let him sleep with his favorite gal tonight to keep him warm.....Here are some pics of them in the Old box B4 i moved them over.....
With her there...he likes to try and exercise the leg...and did eat a TINY bit with her...

Your roo and his hen are adorable.

I have had a couple of hens survive some terrible looking injuries. One was nearly scalped and she healed really well without antibiotics, just neosporin and iodine. I had another hen who was attacked by a hawk and went into shock, and I was amazed that she survived. Chickens can recover from some awful trauma. It sounds like you are doing a great job taking care of him. I'm glad he is eating some and looks so alert.

I don't think the purplish comb has to be because of blood loss. It is possible that while he is healing his body is just more stressed that usual which tends to concentrate blood flow to the center of the body rather than the extremities.

Keep us updated.
