I have a 3 week old chick I was cleaning her poopy butt and when I did Brown stuff came out her mouth and now she moves her head and neck wierd to the side than up mult time in a few seconds and it looks like she swallowing alot now she drinking a nice bit I'm trying to get her to eat straight grit now and she opens her mouth open and close constantly

How were you holding her when you were cleaning her? If her head was down and forward, or if you squeezed on her crop accidentally, she may have vomited. Did the brown liquid smell sour or rotten? Hopefully, she did not aspirate or choke, but her neck movements may have been her adjusting her crop. The brown liquid sounds like she may have a crop problem, such as her crop not emptying normally. If she has pasty butt, that can stop things up. I would try to get her drinking some water, and if her crop is full and puffy, you may want to massage it several times a day until it empties overnight. Grit is not necessary unless they are eating something other than chick starter, such as grass or grains or treats. What are you feeding?

I’ve had a duck do that before when they had something stuck in their throat. But I don’t know about chickens. Hopefully someone that has lots of experience will hop on here!
