LOL! Well... i'd want a rat as PET before a mouse... they say they have better personalities..
BUT a WILD rat in my house.... eeeek!! Those things eat off peoples toes and stuff while their sleeping....
lol.png

And they carry the black plague...

I don't know about eating toes off sleeping people, but squirrels actually carry the plague. At least they do out west. Technically, it's the fleas that infest the squirrels or rats that carry the plague.

red...I just read the first page...but I think it may be a squirell. I found two fallen from thier nests this spring and brought to a rehabber...she stuck them in her incubator for a few days and fed them kitten replacement milk...and that's what I did for the first 2 days or so that I had them until the rehabber could take them. You have to give them food like every 2 hours...daunting task for me so I rather have a rehabber do it. I's too tired for that stuff. But anyway, when I did give them the milk they only took a teeny amount but they were telling me how much they wanted by turning thier heads when they were done. They grew fast and she set them free and has already helped something like 200 squirrels this year. wow.

But looking at the pics...it looks slightly older than the ones I found...mine still had the umbilical cord on em. I hope your lil fella makes it.

you can feed it with a very small paint brush. and they will suck on it to get the milk. when its dry they let go.

I feed a baby mice for four days, before the wild life rehabs exapted it.

I feed them every two hours (night as well) It is ALOT of work, but well worth it.

when you feed it, you will see that a milk line will become visible.
there skin is so thin you can see the milk inside them.

be careful not to over feed.

you will also have to help it go to the bath room as they are to young to go them selfs.

Hope this can help.
Good luck

oh, if it is a mouse, you need to keep it warm (80 degrees)

red...I used a heat lamp but I did not point it at the baby...I kept it lifted very high...about 3 feet? hooked it on the towel rack in bathroom and had baby in a plastic bin in bathroom and had the light pointed away but it radiated heat to it...I kept going in there feeling them to make sure I had it warm enough and found that pointing it on them...with thin skin was VERY bad...so I redirected the lamp to point away but still give off heat.

They made cute lil baby noises too.

oh and I used a baby kitten bottle near thier lips and they took it. A syringe would work too and yes, wipe thier noses cuz the milk gets up there and wipe thier bootys.

and it's a squirrel.

Thanks guys!
I tried a tiny paint brush tonight and he took it very good!

looks like it could be a squirrel, but as wildlife rehabber i would take it to someone who knows what there doing its alot of work you have to make them go to the bath room after you feed them, and feed them at least every 4 hours
