Hi, I,m a first time hatcher and have 3 duck eggs in the locked down incubator, two of which are pipping. One has been trying for nearly 24 hours and has progressed but I have just looked and a bit of shell has fallen off but what looks like a layer of thick membrane is underneath . So where I would have hoped to see feather looks like another layer of shell. Hope this makes sense. Do I need to help out or not yet? Any help gratefully received. Thank you :)

Does it look dry? I try not to help mine out, it sometimes ends up causing other problems.
When I do help I use a warm damp wash cloth to moisten it while I work with a damp Q-tip and something to peel the membrane away.

I have found if you are patient they usually work it out themselves.

Hope this is helpful. Good Luck!

Hi, yes it looks really dry. Temperature is at 37 which is what it says it should be and humidity is up but it does look dry, although there,s condensation in the incubator. Should I leave for a while longer as I know it is best to leave but am just very worried now? Thank you again:)
