ONE OF MY NEW CHICKS THAT JUST HATCHED ON MOTHER'S DAY IS IN BAD SHAPE. I THINK SHE'S DYING. SHE JUST LAYS THERE, EVEN WHEN I PICK HER UP AND BARELY PEEPS. SHE DOESN'T HAVE PASTY BUTT OR ANYTHING. IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO?

She was this morning. Then whenDH looked in on then just a few moments ago, she was sitting off to herself and almost unresponsive. She's not just sleeping, she's really sick!

Doesn't sound very good.

Is the brooder warm enough?

You could try a little Karo syrup with a little water... to see if that perks her up?

Do you hear any rattling or courseness in her lung?

Have the others been keeping her from food or could she be cold? I would try to get a little kayro water in her to see if that might help or perhaps mix crumbles with some warm water and see if she eats. How old is she? I know this may be hard to hear but sometimes chicks die for no reason, I really hopes she makes it though.

I tried the karo and water, dipped her beak but she doesn't seem very interested. The other chicks (nine of them) are doing just fine. This one also seems it be so weak she just sort of topples over as well. But she was fine this morning, running around with the others and everything. She keeps bending her head backward, and is keeping her eyes closed. Is that significant?

So sorry. Good luck. Crossing my fingers for you.
