Hi
I have a hovabator and the automatic turner has quit. The little motor was quite hot so we took it out. I have the day 8 eggs on the wire mesh and my in home hatching buddy (hubby) is quite concerned that they roll a bit and that the turning might not be accurate. I am thinking a little rolling is not a big deal as long as they are turned 3 times a day?
Also, I think it probably went close to 24 hours without turning...do we need to be concerned about this?
Fortunately we still check and note the rotations so managed to catch it.
Arggghhh.

You should be fine. A little rolling won't hurt anything either. I had 22/24 hatch and hand turned the whole time. I forgot a few times (though not often) and mine rolled around a bit on the wire too.

Thanks for the reassurance. Such a delicate responsibility bringing these little beings safely into the world.

The same thing happened with my turner. I've emailed them and they did send me a replacement motor. I basically went over to hand turning the eggs 5 times per day, and continued doing so until lock down even with having the new motor in hand. I think mine had also been out for 24 hours before I've noticed. Two eggs did quit on me, but the rest hatched.
