I have an new chick that hatched in my incubator. It's tendon is exposed on the back - I am attaching a picture. I was told to band it's legs, but that won't help its tendon.

What do I do? It's a perky little thing. About a day old. I brought it home last night so the others didn't peck at its legs, and it loves my kids - what can I do to help the poor thing walk?

Put an antibiotic ointment on it and wrap it with some gauze and a tiny strip of vetrap. Change dressing at least once a day and flush with betadine or chlorhexidine. All of which you should be able to get from a vet or a pharmacy.
