Usually that means it is still absorbing the yolk sack, it will hatch when its done, keep working slowly.
I'm not a profession though, so if experts say otherwise, listen to them.

He just died in the shell this morning. I was waiting for him to finish absorbing the yolk so that I could finish helping and he just stopped moving... I broke away the shell partway and he looked like he had finished absorbing the yolk. Did I just wait too long?

thank you, I'm trying my best not to blame myself, and now he's somewhere better
