She keeps trying to pack it off it's barely hanging on can I just cut it off without risk of bleeding. I would take to the vet but it hangs there like it's on a string and keeps getting in her way doesn't seem to mind it

Do you have pictures? That would help.

Welcome to BYC and sorry anout your chicken. The best thing would be to wrap the wing after cleaning it with weak betadine or 1/2 strength Hibiclens (chlorhexidene) and get her to a vet in the morning. Wing amputation is best done by a vet because of the risk of bone infection. The bone is exposed. Some hens have survived home amputation, so it is possible with very clean technique. I will see if I can find some threads to read.

If a cat chewed on the wing then most likely the bird will die from severe infection. Cats carry some wicked bad bacteria in their mouth.

Please don't torture her especially if she isn't likely to survive.

I second this, I've never been able to save a bird bitten by my cat. Even when they're not severely injured, they would die from the bacteria from the cat's mouth.

Usually they do great the first day, seems like they will recover, then suddenly deteriorate and pass away :(

Cat bites, even in humans are pretty serious matters that require treatment ASAP. If you don't, you risk losing an arm.
